Held on Saturday 9th September, the annual Great River Race is a marathon of traditional rowing boats along the Thames from Millwall to Richmond upon Thames, finishing outside the great Jacobean mansion Ham House to the roar of canon fire.

You can enjoy your time here with a 2-night bed & breakfast stay at the 4-star Lensbury Hotel on the riverside at nearby Teddington.  On Friday you can stretch your legs with our guided walk of historic Teddington and Bushy Park, a beautiful royal deer park where General Eisenhower planned the invasion of Europe that started with D-Day.  Then join or follow the race the next day.  And on Sunday, there’s an optional bike tour from the Lensbury around Richmond Park, the capital’s largest and wildest open space.
